Winter in Niseko is something that you have to experience to believe
When you do you will be amazed. Niseko is fast becoming a world renowned powder snow resort and has been voted the world's second snowiest resort* with an average snowfall of 14.8 metres of white fluffy powder snow falling each winter season.
Niseko is lucky to be located just above sea-level so the worry of altitude sickness is a thing of the past, unlike resorts in Europe and the Americas. This will allow you to enjoy the 47 kilometres of groomed slopes, abundant powder fields, tree runs and the fantastic backcountry terrain all day long.
The weather in Niseko can change very quickly and can be extremely cold if skiers are caught unawares. It is recommended that you are always well prepared for the weather to turn and be dressed appropriately. Face masks and good quality goggles and gloves are advisable.
A great way to escape the conditions, or to just take a rest and warm up, is in the on-mountain restaurants that are spread across the resort – perfect to re-energise with a fantastic meal or a hot drink. Speedy service means that you will be back out on the mountain in no time, ready to float through the powder and into the night.
